What is MIPPA?

The Medicare Improvements for Patients and Providers Act (MIPPA) of 2008 requires all providers who bill CMS for advanced diagnostic imaging services under Part B of the Medicare Physician Fee Schedule to have been accredited by January 1, 2012, in order to continue to receive reimbursement for their services. The modalities covered under MIPPA are traditional CT, Cone Beam CT, MRI, PET, and SPECT.
