Annapolis, MD / PR Web / June 28, 2016 – RadSite™, a leading accreditation organization promoting quality-based imaging practices, continues to build momentum as UnitedHealthcare and Oxford Health recognize its MIPPA Accreditation Program (MAP) for Advanced Diagnostic Imaging (ADI). Over the past six months, RadSite has received over a dozen recognitions from private payers and radiology benefit management organizations.
According to Mark Casner, RadSite’s treasurer and board member, “Payers are recognizing RadSite’s leadership in promoting quality improvement within imaging providers. Our efforts to incorporate process enhancements, operational efficiencies, and provider education into our accreditation offerings are not only being noticed, but are setting the pace.”
In addition to the U.S. Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS), an expanding number of health plans, insurers and radiology benefit management organizations are recognizing RadSite’s MAP Standards. The trend began with key health plans such as Aetna and Humana adding RadSite to their list of ‘deemed’ accreditation organizations for participating imaging providers offering CT, MRI and PET and SPECT scans. More recently, payers who have recognized RadSite include:
- UnitedHealthcare
- Oxford Health
- Freedom Health, Inc.
- America’s 1st Choice Health Plans, Inc.
- Optimum HealthCare Inc.
- America’s 1st Choice of South Carolina, Inc.
- Molina Health Care
- eviCore
Some payers choose to no longer reimburse claims and/or remove from their networks non-accredited ADI providers. Several studies also have demonstrated a difference in claims activity between the accredited provider community and the non-accredited providers, specifically that high quality providers bill less for diagnostic imaging.
Garry Carneal, JD, MA, RadSite’s Advisory Board chair, adds “Public and private sector payers are increasingly recognizing or mandating RadSite to help create a ‘smart’ imaging network to promote better clinical and financial outcomes. New innovations are constantly being introduced into the marketplace from imaging manufacturers, and RadSite is now working with many of these companies and other stakeholders to help identify and promote best practices.”
RadSite offers a comprehensive, affordable, quality-based accreditation program that evaluates providers on the basis of established industry standards and best-practices. RadSite recognition of a facility demonstrates to patients, payers, regulators and others that a provider is a clear leader in imaging quality and patient safety. RadSite works with health plans and their participating providers through its MAP program to help raise imaging standards with a meaningful accreditation process, education, reasonable pricing and a quality seal.
